ILLUMINATED screenings @ Gnome House: Black History Month special

28th October 2020 @ 5:00 pm 9:30 pm

We have launched our brand new Illuminated project @ Gnome House – with short films made by filmmakers from Waltham Forest and beyond screened on our spacious terrace on selected evenings!

Tonight we are showing a film introduction to Mbilla Arts. The film is also available online, along with another short film – see below

Mbilla Arts is a Walthamstow-based social enterprise established in 2006 to promote education and performance programmes in West African music, dance and storytelling. Led by Mbilla Arts’ musical director, Seneke Sillah, the artists are performing music and dance from the Malinke tradition of West Africa. Malinke, also called Maninka, Mandinka, Mandingo, or Manding, are a West African people occupying parts of Guinea, Mali, Ivory Coast, Senegal, The Gambia, and Guinea-Bissau.

Film made by O’Kody Arts – an arts platform focusing on production, education and wellbeing.
