July 25 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
An event every 2 weeks that begins at 8:00 pm on Saturday, repeating until 8th August 2020
‘Infectious Air’ – a music and spoken word series in response to the Coronavirus Pandemic
‘Infectious Air’ – is a new series in which co-hosts Rowland Sutherland (flautist) and Ansuman Biswas (multidisciplinary artist) consider what a pandemic and the practice of improvisation might have to do with one another.
Co-hosts Rowland Sutherland (flautist) and Ansuman Biswas (multidisciplinary) and guests evoke themes and experiences of the pandemic through reference and links to people’s experiences and history and genres of jazz.
Each session consists of a mixture of words and music from Rowland and Ansuman, joined by different guest artists for each episode, all separated by lockdown. The sessions explore whether music is a communicable condition, absorbing and mutating in the search for a shared space, and even sculpting reality. The audience is also invited to infect the event with live interactions. The sessions conclude with group improvisation responding to the multiple voices and sounds seeking to navigate current uncertainties and change together.
