Jazz E17 Sundays

Robbie Robson plays Clifford Brown: Sunday 13th October

E17 Jazz present an evening of music by the iconic trumpet player Clifford Brown. Brown’s early career saw performances with Tadd Dameron, JJ Johnson and Art Blakey but he found his greatest success with the quintet he formed with drummer Max Roach. This band was considered a high-water mark of the hard-bop style. Brown died tragically young in a car accident at the age of only 25, however his contribution to the music was assured. Tonight, trumpet player Robbie Robson will perform material from Brown’s classic recording Clifford Brown with Strings (although without strings!) Robbie is one of the most in demand trumpet players on the scene at the moment, and has worked with Julian Arguelles, Bill Frisell and Phil Woods amongst others.

Date: Sunday 13th October
