Stow Film Lounge at Gnome House

We are really excited that Stow Film Lounge will be coming to Gnome House, starting on Saturday March 5th. They will be showing two films, The Song of the Sea at 16.30 and Brooklyn at 20.30. Information below:

The Song of the Sea. Doors open 16.00. Film at 16.30.

The first screening is an Oscar-nominated animation in which Ben, a young Irish boy, and his little sister Saoirse, a girl who can turn into a seal, go on an adventure to free the fairies and save the spirit world. Boasting narrative depth commensurate with its visual beauty, Song Of The Sea adds up to an animated saga overflowing with family-friendly riches.

PRE-FILM CRAFT SESSION
Once again there will be a film related activity run by Scribble & Smudge for the youngsters to enjoy before the film. The price is included in the entry ticket.

REFRESHMENTS
Stow Film Lounge will be serving freshly made popcorn, organic meat hotdogs, veggie hotdogs, organic fruit juices, organic coffee, fairtrade tea and delicious ice-cream.

FILM SWAP SHOP
Bring along dvd(s) you have finished with and swap for other(s) that members of the audience have brought along themselves.

Brooklyn. Doors 19.45, Film 20.30.

The second screening will be the Oscar-nominated Brooklyn at 8.30. An Irish immigrant lands in 1950s Brooklyn, where she quickly falls into a romance with a local. When her past catches up with her, however, she must choose between two countries and the lives that exist within.
Based on a novel by Colm Tóibín, Eilis Lacey leaves small town Ireland for a better life in New York, arranged by an Irish priest in Brooklyn. Working in a shop she takes a book-keeping course and participates in the Irish community. There she meets an Italian, and falls in love. They marry but she wants to see her mother after the death of her sister in Ireland. Returning home she falls into the life of the small town, meets a local man, but also a nasty neighbour who knows she was married in the America.

REFRESHMENTS
Pizza at the Pictures – order a pizza or lasagne with your ticket(s) by 1pm on the day of the screening and we will have it fresh and ready for you at 8pm. All pizzas are made with fresh dough, hand thrown and stone baked in a traditional Italian way.
